The Client.

The FBEU was formed in 1910, during an era when a number of important Australia unions were being established. The FBEU has continued to pursue the goals originally set by their founding members and are held in high esteem within the Trade Union

Movement. Their plight to support the fire-fighters of NSW is a well-respected one across the state. inOne Projects were thrilled to work with FBEU on the redesign of their headquarters in the Trustcott and Sons building on Belmore Street in Surry Hills.

The D&C.

The early 20th century building that houses the FBEU headquarters has extremely high ceilings and a typical warehouse style characteristic of the Surry Hills area. To make use of the abundance of space, inOne designed an open plan area with dedicated meeting rooms, a breakout space and an expansive 20-seat boardroom. The breakout area had magnificent black epoxy existing flooring and so, the inOne Projects team catered their renewed design of the area to highlight the subtle patterning in the flooring. The black breakout stools and matte black pendant lights accent the area making it comfortable and delicate. In the expansive boardroom, inOne

chose stunning acoustic paneling and custom cabinetry to complement the huge boardroom table. The meeting rooms make use of the existing washed brick which pays homage to the period building, whilst the contemporary furniture and plants revive the space. The team at inOne thoroughly enjoyed revitalizing such a glorious space alongside FBEU and are proud of the impressive result.

To subtly capture the feel of a fire station throughout, inOne chose a tangerine feature carpet that appears in strips throughout the space and is brought out in the waiting area armchairs.
